ABOUT US

Jim and Doreen Guma

“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming … WOW! What a ride!” - anonymous

Welcome to timetoplay.com.  I figured I'd be proactive and use my midife crisis to help others. The quote you have just read is my goal for the next chapter of my life.  I've worked hard, gone to school, raised the kids. Now I'm working on the "Woo Hoo".

Why did I start this project?  Aside from it being my hope to learn how to play, I should mention that I am a Board-Certified Healthcare Executive.  I've worked in the healthcare industry over 24 years.  I've seen sick and sad.  I've talked to people who have regrets. And, for the purpose of timetoplay.com, it is important to note that "Play" is used synonymously with "quality of life".  I've realized that you can't have quality of life if you are not happy, healthy, if you don't have money, or if you have no work-life balance.

I've tried to put everything I could think of into this project to help people have a better life, have a happier life, and to be able to enjoy life.

Another reason I've started timetoplay.com is that a lot of us are tired.  We're working harder than ever.  As I talk to people in my 40+ age group, everyone seems to be in the same rut. People aren’t happy. They’re stressed out. Jobs are demanding, life is demanding. There is no time to play.

I've started to realize that life is short.   After working non-stop for days, I had an epiphany that, if I died tomorrow, my tomb stone would say “Doreen worked hard”. I decided I didn’t want that to be my destiny, and it became the theme and logo for our website and logo wear line. The logo, unfortunately, is something I think many people can relate to. It is a reminder to schedule time -- for ourselves -- for our quality of life – for our happiness.

I hope you will join me in my "quest for quality of life".  I hope the timetoplay.com website will be place for fun, a place to find things to do, a place to share a story or an event, a resource, a place to find things for your toys. A reminder to take time to play.

I look forward to hearing from you. Let me know of things you want to see on our site. And send lots of pictures and stories – doreen@timetoplay.com.

I hope to make you smile.
